Contribute to the LGMA’s COP29 communications

As we prepare for COP29, we want to ensure smooth, impactful communication for our daily bulletins, where we can feature your announcements and activities throughout the event. There are multiple opportunities to contribute to LGMA channels throughout COP29. Please make sure your Communications leads are aware of these opportunities by sharing this page with relevant parties within your organization.

LGMA Daily Bulletin

The LGMA offers a daily bulletin throughout COP to update the Constituency and our partners on all the outcomes, announcements and events that are relevant. LGMA members and partners are invited to contribute content!

Type of content we are looking for

  • Analysis of the on-going negotiations at COP29, as they relate to the LGMA COP29 Position and/or the LGMA Working Groups
    • If you are able to provide this, please contact us ASAP – we want to support you on this as much as possible!
  • Relevant COP29 news or analysis for the Constituency, such as a blog post, press article/interview or video covering key points for the LGMA
  • Launch of a new report or publication at COP29 or relating to COP29
  • Announcement of a partnership / signing of an MoU at COP29 or relating to COP29

How to submit your content

  • Enter all content details in the COP29 LGMA announcement tracker.
  • Always include a link and date with your content.
  • To include additional text or image: Link it directly in the tracker or upload it to our Google Drive folder (please rename it clearly to ensure correct linking).

LGMA COP29 Opening Press release (to be released 12 Nov)

On 12 November, we will release an “opening” press release summarizing our LGMA Joint Position, the endorsements and other key milestones for the constituency at COP29 (you can see our COP28 press release here).

As in prior years, all members of the LGMA are invited to submit quotes from your organization’s leadership. The press release will be open for quotes from 6 November – 11 November 2024 – we will share the document tomorrow. Please ensure that you provide the quotes and your organization’s boilerplate information in a timely manner.

Regarding an LGMA press conference in the UNFCCC media space: At this point, it is highly unlikely that we will have an LGMA press conference in the press area at COP. However there are several other press moments where we will acknowledge the endorsers of the LGMA position:

  • LGMA statement at COP29 opening (Mon, 11 Nov)
  • MAUP High Level Opening (Tue, 12 Nov, 10:00 AM)
  • LGMA Response to WCAS at MAUP (Wed, 13 Nov, 10:00 AM)
  • Official WCAS Urban Side event (Wed, 13 Nov, 11:45 AM)
  • Other opportunities at the Multilevel Action & Urbanization Pavilion

LGMA COP29 Outcomes Statement

(to be released after the final outcomes, goal of 1 day after)

At the end of COP, we will release a statement summarizing our position on the outcome of COP29. We will seek inputs both towards the statement and also direct quotes from partner organizations (you can see our COP28 outcome statement here). We will alert the constituency when we begin crafting this outcome statement and invite your inputs.
